Electricians Manly Vale FAQs

Here are the things Manly Vale homeowners ask us most often, on pricing, timing, licensing and the local wiring we deal with. If yours is not below, give us a call and ask.

Common questions

How Fast We Get to You

Do You Work Weekends?

Most jobs get booked in from Monday to Friday, which is when our standard scheduling runs. Genuine electrical emergencies are different, so if something is unsafe we respond day or night, weekend included, and you are never left with live danger waiting for Monday.

How Do I Book?

The quickest way is to call (02) 9073 7836 and tell us what has gone wrong; a real person answers the phone and books you in. You can also send the contact form any time, and we will get back to you fast, usually to lock in a day and a rough arrival window.

What Counts as an Electrical Emergency?

Anything that is unsafe or leaves you without essential power counts. Think burning smells, scorched or sparking outlets, a board that keeps tripping, or exposed live wires. If the whole street is dark it is usually a network outage, but everything from your switchboard in is our job to make safe, and we will get to you quickly.

How Fast Can You Get Here?

For standard jobs we are often same or next day, depending on how the week is running. When it is a genuine emergency, we are out the door fast, day or night. Because Manly Vale is our home turf, we are usually only minutes off on a normal run.

Common questions

Pricing and Quotes

How Do I Pay?

Payment comes after the work is finished and signed off, and it matches the quote you accepted. We take the usual methods, and your receipt and certificate of compliance are sent through afterwards, so everything is on record.

Is the Quote Really Free?

Yes. Quotes are free with no call-out fee, so getting a price never costs you anything up front. You get a fixed written price before we start, with no surprises on the invoice, even if the job runs longer than expected.

What Does "$50 off Your First Service" Cover?

It is a straight $50 off your first job with us, our way of thanking you for giving a local team a go. It comes off the final invoice on your first booking. Just mention it when you call so we can note it on your quote.

How Do Quotes Work?

We visit, size up what you need and set a fixed price on the spot, with no hourly rates and no guesswork about what it will cost. If we open something up and find genuinely unforeseen work, we stop and re-quote before we go ahead.

Common questions

Local Answers for Manly Vale

Why Do Manly Vale's Older Homes Need Switchboard Upgrades?

A lot of the post-war and 1960s-70s homes here still run ceramic-fuse boards that were never built for today's loads. Add a reverse-cycle system for winter heating, an induction cooktop or a car charger, and an old board can overload. Upgrading to a modern board with breakers and RCDs makes the extra load safe.

Do You Work on Heritage and Strata Properties?

Yes, we do plenty of unit and strata work, especially the older walk-up flats and newer apartments up along Condamine Street. This pocket is more post-war than heritage-listed, but the same care applies to any older building. We handle body-corporate common property and individual units alike.

Do You Know Manly Vale's Housing Stock?

We work in it every week. Homes here run from fibro and brick cottages of the post-war years to mid-century walk-ups and newer unit blocks near the shops. Each era has its own wiring quirks, from cloth and rubber-insulated cable in the oldest homes to boards that predate safety switches. We know what to look for before we start.

How Local Are You, Really?

Genuinely local. Manly Vale is where we work week in and week out, not a crew sent in from the far side of Sydney. We cover the neighbouring suburbs too, from Balgowlah and Fairlight to Manly and Brookvale, so wherever you are on the Northern Beaches we are close by.

Common questions

Licensed, Insured and Done Properly

Are You Licensed and Insured?

Yes. We hold NSW Electrical Contractor Licence #452529C and are a Master Electricians Australia member. We are also fully insured, so you are covered from the moment we walk in. You can check any NSW licence on the Fair Trading register.

What Is AS/NZS 3000?

AS/NZS 3000 is the wiring rulebook that every electrical job in Australia has to meet. We wire everything to it and test the work before we sign off, so your home stays safe and your insurance stays valid.

What Is a Safety Switch (RCD) and Do I Need One?

A safety switch, or RCD, trips almost instantly when it detects current leaking to earth, cutting the supply before a shock can hurt you. Yes, you need one. Plenty of older homes here were wired before they became mandatory, so we usually add a safety switch on every circuit when we do an upgrade.

Can I Do My Own Electrical Work in NSW?

No. DIY electrical work is illegal in NSW for anyone who is not a licensed electrician, and for good reason. Unlicensed jobs can leave your insurance invalid, cause grief at sale time, and put people at real risk. Use a licensed sparkie and you also get a certificate of compliance for the work.
